Description

Joseph P. Gone, PhD, is Faculty Director of the Harvard University Native American Program, Professor of Anthropology in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard University. In this presentation, Dr. Gone will discuss historical trauma discourse, the potential problems of wedding historical oppression and psychological trauma, and alternative possibilities for conceptualizing the relationship between colonization history and contemporary distress within American Indian communities.
